Første møte

Dette er en uoffisiell test som jeg har gjort etter at jeg mottok mitt første Apple produkt.

Grunnen er at en kan sette opp et gjestenettverk til eventuelle gjester eller leieboer.

Enhetene som ble brukt ble satt opp i første etasje mens de forskjellige PCer er satt opp på kontoret mitt i andre etasje.

I dette tilfelle er det kun signalstyrken denne testen omfatter siden jeg fikk utrolig dårlig resultat på en av stasjonær PC (Signal Strenght: Fair/Low).

Som bilde viser, er faktisk gjestenettverket i AirPort Extreme sterkere enn private hovednettet. Innstillingen på privatnettet er 100% effekt.

Mobilt aksess punkt

En Android mobiltelefon ble satt opp som Wi-Fi Hotspot. Dette er en Nexus S som kjører Jelly Bean 4.1.2.

I utgangspunktet er signaleffekten på Nexus S dårligere enn sine konkurrenter. I dette tilfelle så er den mye bedre på effekt enn Apple AirPort Extreme basestasjon.

I påvente av den nye Nokia Lumia 920 så vil denne bli satt opp og sammenlignet på signalstyrke.

Erfaringen

Apple Kundeservice har blitt informert og sendt ut en ny AirPort Extreme.

- Dette måtte være et «mandags produkt», sier representanten hos Apples kundeservice i Sverige.

Kvalitetskontrollen kan selvsagt ha sviktet i dette tilfelle eller er Apples produkter kun oppskrytt?

Samme runde med test vil bli utført når erstatningen fra Apple kommer.

Andre ytelser

Jeg har ikke testet overføringshastigheten mellom de kablete enhetene som NAS, ekstern hardisk og datamaskiner. Skuffelsen ble for stor når den ikke kunne måle seg med gammelt utstyr og mobiltelefon.
